History

Our Story

Vijitha Central College was established in 1952 to provide quality education to the children of Pulasthigama and the wider Polonnaruwa district. Over seven decades, the school has grown from a modest institution into one of the region's leading national schools. As a Central College, Vijitha has played a vital role in shaping leaders in academics, sports, and public service. Our alumni serve across Sri Lanka in medicine, engineering, education, and the armed forces. Today, with modern laboratories, sports facilities, and dedicated staff, we continue our mission of nurturing disciplined, knowledgeable citizens who contribute to the nation's progress.
